Sensor Test & Replay System (STARS)
STARS is an affordable and powerful Flight Data Recorder (FDR) download, data replay and aircraft sensor calibration system designed to interface with many of the world’s most popular FDRs.
Sensor Test and Replay System (STARS) runs on Windows XP or Vista PC/tablet/laptop and imports data downloaded from an MPI (Multi Purpose Interface). STARS then converts the raw data from the FDR file into engineering units for reporting and graphing. There is a search and select function to add relevant parameters to a report and set the logic rules for specific parameters selected.
Key Functions
MPI (Multi Purpose Interface) – STARS interfaces directly via a PC peripheral interface cable called the Multi Purpose Interface. The MPI device interfaces with all L3 and Honeywell solid state FDRs and provides seamless data download and decompression of L3 FA2100, F1000 Honeywell SSFDR and uQAR data files using the STARS software. The FDR connects to the PC through the MPI interface cable via the USB interface cable. This MPI device is the communications device which controls the flight recorder download and monitor functions for data file transfer from the Flight recorder ready to import into STARS.
The HHMPI can also be used with STARS to replay FDR data or when uploading files. STARS convert raw data into useful engineering units into a table, graph or both. Reports can be created to display the output required.
Definition Aircraft Files – The STARS software requires a definition file to be created for each different FDAU for Aircraft parameter recognition. This comes at an additional cost depending on the size of the file. All Aircraft documentation and maintenance specs are required. Definition files can be converted at a cost from a ROSE database file. STARS also provides users with the ability to produce their own definition files. Customer training can be delivered either at our facility in Melbourne or remotely by Webex.
Aircraft Calibration – There is the option to calibrate aircraft sensors for adjustment and alignment if they are not functioning correctly when connected directly to the FDR.

Key Functions
- Sensor test/calibration in real time at the aircraft
- Saves results for maintenance records
- List and trace designed specifically for maintenance readouts
- Interfaces with most Flight Data Recorders
